To expand on dkg's recent post on Flying Spaghetti Monsterism and Intelligent Design, read these recent NYTimes articles. One is more or less a history of FSM; the other, by Daniel Dennett, addresses the ID debate. I have been touched by His Noodly Appendage, and it is starchy. Ramen.

Wow. FSM is blowing up big time. man, i have to say i really want to see it taught in schools. i just spoke with an old friend on the phone today who was recently teaching 1st-graders in ATL. She said that one of her students interrupted another kid and said "you can't just tell a teacher that she's wrong!" To which my friend replied: "This is my classroom. That may go for other people, but if you think i'm wrong, i want to know about it!"

I think teaching Flying Spaghetti Monsterism would encourage that kind of healthy skepticism.
